Jason Drake

    My name is Jason Drake.   I am married to my beautiful wife Kristina and have two wonderful daughters Julia and Olivia.  I have eighteen years teaching and coaching experience with seventeen being at Woodville Middle School.  In 2012, I was named Woodville Middle School and Woodville ISD's "Teacher of the Year."  Last year, I was recognized regionally for the "Reaud Award for Teaching Excellence", "Sunburst's National Digital Classroom Spotlight Teacher" and Woodville Middle School's "Teacher of the Year." 
     I graduated from Pasadena Sam Rayburn High School in 1990.  After high school I spent six years in the Marine Corps as a machine gunner.  I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in History in 1998.  Last summer, I completed my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership again at Stephen F. Austin.  I am currently serving as the social studies department head and middle school boys athletic coordinator.  I coach middle school football, basketball and track and high school boys and girls golf. I also coach the 6th-8th grade UIL History teams.   I am currently certified as EC-12 Principal, Secondary History, Secondary Physical Education and Elementary Self-Contained.
    During Texas History class, we will be using the Ignite Torch, Channel One, Flocabulary, Project Based Learning and educational games.  The Units we will discuss are Geography of Texas, Native Texans, European Exploration, Migration into Texas, Texas Independence, Statehood, Cattle Drives, Oil, King Cotton, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and Texas in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries.  I also will be teaching Robotics, Tech Apps and Gifted and Talented for the first time.
    I am an avid runner, coin collector, and continuous learner.  I am constantly seeking new ways to teach and inspire students.  My goal is for our students to be inspired to create, explore and challenge themselves.
